About me & my work:

I have always been driven by curiosity about the natural world. The desire to learn and share knowledge—combined with a love of storytelling—motivate my work as a science writer and editor.

Some of my favorite reporting projects have included a dive into the benefits of exercise for back pain, why science fairs are unfair and how stress changes across the lifespan. I have written about the pandemic’s effects on animal behavior, the bonds between people and pets, and the ties between autism and OCD. I have also reported on the burden of Alzheimer’s Disease in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley for Public Health Watch—published by The Texas Tribune—and co-produced an accompanying video with Univision Digital.

I have written profiles, features, columns, science activities and scripts for podcast.

I am a contributing editor for both Scientific American and The Transmitter. Previously, I edited features, news and opinion articles for SAPIENS and Scientific American MIND.

From 2021 to 2023, I was president of the Austin Texas Science Communicators. I am a member of the National Association of Science Writers, The Association of Healthcare Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
